St. Peter’s Annual Christmas Bazaar

St. Peter’s Council of Catholic Women will hold their annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, December 1, and Sunday, December 2. The Bazaar will be held in the Parish Center, Second and Union Streets, Columbia, and will feature hand-made craft items, specialty baskets and homemade desserts. A light meal will be served beginning at 6:00 PM on Saturday, December 1, and will include homemade soups and sandwiches along with drinks and desserts. On Sunday, December 2, a full-course, all-you-can-eat pasta dinner complete with meatballs, soup, salad & Italian bread will be served from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased in advance through the Parish Office or at the door the day of the event. Sunday morning will feature a continental breakfast including homemade sticky buns. The donation for the dinner, which is open to the pubic, is $7.00 for adults, $4.00 for children, and is free for children under three years of age.

Free Support For Those Who Care For A Loved One

To assist with the many responsibilities and stresses associated with caregiving, Hospice & Community Care, founded as Hospice of Lancaster County, is offering a free one-day seminar for family caregivers: “Practical Caregiving” will be held Saturday, November 17, 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. in the Carroll Community Room at Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster.

This seminar is for any family caregiver in the community, including those whose loved ones are not hospice patients. Caregivers can be anyone caring for a loved one residing in a home, a nursing home or hospital, and the amount of care being provided can range from a few hours each week to around the clock.

Topics will include: Managing Pain at Home; Practical Medication Management; Prevention of Injuries in the Home; Nutritional Tips; and Community Resources. Registration is required and attendees can participate all day or attend just the morning or afternoon session. A light lunch will be served. Catholic Daughters of the America Fundraiser

Court Queen of Peace #1023, Catholic Daughters of the America, Lancaster will host a Friendly’s Fundraiser on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the Friendly’s 1519 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The Court will receive a percentage of all sales between those hours on that date. The Court will hold its regular monthly meeting on Sunday, November 17, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. followed by Bingo for the residents at 2:00 at Conestoga View Home 900 East King Street, Lancaster, PA. Individuals interested in attending the meeting are welcome or you can learn more about the organization by contacting Dr. Rita smith-Wade-El at 717-203-3441.
Catholic Daughters of the Americas, founded in 1903, is the largest Catholic organization open to Catholic women with more than 75,000 members. Catholic Daughters support numerous Catholic causes including Mother Teresa’s Foundation, Morality-in-the-Media, North American college in Rome, Habitat for Humanity, and the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. as well as local causes like Lancaster Catholic High School, A Women’s Concern, Bingo at Conestoga View, and providing new books to school children. The local court celebrated its 85th anniversary October 17, 2011.

Patriotic Rosary

You are invited to join the rosary group to pray a “Patriotic Rosary” for the consecration of our nation on Monday, November 5, immediately following the 9:00 a.m. Mass. This rosary is longer than usual because we will pray and sing patriotic songs in between each decade. We hope you will join us in prayer for our nation.

St. Philip’s Women’s Auxiliary Christmas Craft Show

St. Philip the Apostle Church’s Women’s Auxiliary, Millersville, PA is sponsoring a Christmas Craft Show with over fifty (50) crafters. The Show will be on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 9 am until 3 pm in the parish gym and classrooms at 2111 Millersville Pike. The Lancaster Friends of the Library will also be selling gift quality used books. Admission and parking is FREE. The kitchen will be open for hot and cold sandwiches, soups, snacks and baked items.
