With your parents, list the names of
                      possible sponsors.  Consider each one carefully,
                                      using these questions as a guide:
v Does he/she meet the requirements?
v Does he/she live close enough to meet with me?  Or can other arrangements be made?
v Is he/she free to attend meetings and to spend time with me?
v Does he/she live the Christian way of  life, of worship, and of service?
v Is he/she mature enough to guide and challenge me to be a real Christian?
v Can I relate well to him/her so that we can pray and discuss together?
SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT…
U Every adolescent needs a “special adult:  to talk with  -  someone other than parents, someone who won’t judge or worry or repeat later what he or she said.
U A sponsor ideally assumes the role of “mentor” or “spiritual guide” for a teenager.  Someone he or she can put  his/her hopes, fears, and questions into words with who does not have parental authority over them. A person who will continue to be a part of their faith journey throughout their life.
U Spirituality includes all our deeper concerns…  concerns about life’s meaning, our identity, relationships and of course, the place of God in human life.  So a “spiritual guide” is not someone who only talks about prayer, but who takes an interest in a teen’s inner journey, the struggle to grow into maturity.”
When A Teen Chooses You, by Joseph Moore.
YOU, THE CONFIRMATION CANDIDATE:
YOU, THE CONFIRMATION CANDIDATE:
“Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor;
the Kingdom of heaven belongs to them! “Happy are those who mourn;
God will comfort them! “Happy are those who are humble;
they will receive what God has promised!
“Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires;
God will satisfy them fully! “Happy are those who are merciful to others; God will be merciful to them! ‘Happy are the pure in heart,
they will see God! “Happy are those who work for peace;
God will call them his children!
“Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires; the Kingdom of God belongs to them!
“Happy are you when people insult you and persecute you and tell
all kinds of evil lies against you because you are my followers.
Be happy and glad for a great reward is kept for you in heaven.
This is how the prophets who lived before you were persecuted.”
Matthew 5:3-12 Good News Bible
